Final Cut

Labels:

Evaluation

Our rough cut is not at the stage we would of wished it would be at this point in proceedings. Due to forgetting props there are missing images from the rough cut which will need to be added to the final piece. There is a small amount of fading in and out but no real special effects. We have achieved the voice over, but as a group we feel its to long and will need to be shortened. The logo at the start of the scene is to long, so like the voice over should be cut shorter.

Changes of inital ideas

We have decided to change our first ideas because we believe as a group that the panning of the map will become boring. To solve this problem we are going to show faded images and video on top of the map. Things like the pocket watch and someone playing with old money in there hands. Also the voice over goes on for to long so we have cut it in half to keep interest.

We would like this shot to be a smooth pan showing books along a library shelf. This would symbolise someone looking for a book. An old book will will found were the map will be hidden inside. We will make the book and amp look old my putting dust all over it and make it dirty.

We will also use a high angle shot that shows lots of legs. Hopefully this will make it seem like a busy college environment. This will be the shot after the school bell rings.

After the book has been found the character will flick through the pages and unintentionally find the map. This will fit in with the speech at the the start.

Before the school bell rings there will be just panning and tracking of the hand over the map. there will also we a few close ups of important place on the map.

We will try to get some old fashion coins to place all over the table were the map will be. This will hopefully give the pirate look.

We will place a bottle to hold the corner of the map down when it is placed onto the table.

Shots Types

The shots that we may use will point of view when the person is walking through the school.

We will also use lots close ups when he is trying to find the book.

Another shot we could use would be a long shot showing that it is an ordinary library.

Narrative

Here is the narrative that we are going to put at the start of our opening.

Back in the day where pirates roamed and the skull and cross bones ruled the sea. Lived a man who would change the course of Pirate history forever. John Morris was a captain, but not a pirate captain or particularly fierce. He was just a sailor who preferred the life of a buccaneer and enjoyed the company of hard drinking ruffians. He had seen plenty of action with his life at sea including the famous siege of Marabou under captain Henry Morgan. At this siege he had obtained a wound and had to take refuge, in a near by monastery ruin. By sheer chance on this bleak looking outcome of a day, he stumbled across a large piece of parchment which he was initially going to use to hold his wound together. The Captain found it was a map with an X on it and pirate or know pirate you know what that means. After returning from the siege back to the Port of Vagna, injury healed, Morris found a small ship straight away and headed for the X, returning 6 months later in the largest ship seen in the port, with a full crew on hand, and clothes never seen on the island before. It was clear to everyone that what he had found. After living the life and luxury on his death bed he revealed to his oldest son why he had no money for him to inherit. According to the story the treasure he found all these years ago a condition, that as when Morris died the treasure would be returned and the rest be put back into the sea in a rum bottle to keep it safe. The son being short of money sold the story to anyone he could just to make ends meat. This surged a storm of pirates to find the map knowing it must be in the Vagna area. Know ever found the map and the Legend of Captain John Morris's treasure still lives on..............

Inspiration!!

We have chosen to now do a children's adventure film. The idea is to do a pirate based opening introducing the the story and what will happen. We want to have our story to be told and to be explained on a map. Also in our opening we will have some pirate like the objects shown in the images below.

Here is some inspiration for our main map, and our storyboard.
